Find your archipelago With its 24,000 islands, the Stockholm archipelago is a unique place to spend time all year round. On some islands, you�ll find picturesque restaurants, hotels, youth hostels and country stores, while other islands have only natural harbors or are entirely deserted. There�s plenty of variation, and a wealth of wildlife. Many of the islands in the archipelago can be reached by boat from central Stockholm. Take a day trip, or spend a few nights in a hotel or youth hostel. No matter what you do, the experience will be entirely unique, since the Stockholm archipelago offers a world of possibilities to tourists and Stockholmers alike. Many of the islands feature famous and less well-known archipelago restaurants. The food served in the archipelago has never been better than it is today. Interest in traditional archipelago cooking is increasing in step with with tourism on the islands. There are more restaurants today, and they are combining quality and tradition. Local produce�of exceptional quality and often organically grown�provides inspiration for talented chefs. The "taste of the archipelago" is a project being carried out jointly between restaurants in Sweden, Finland and on the island of �land.
