Airports
Arlanda airport Tel 08-797 60 00, for both international and domestic flights is situated 45 km north of Stockholm.
Bromma airport Tel 08-797 68 74, for domestic flights, is located 8 km west of the city. Skavsta airport Tel 0155-28 04 00 for domestic flights and flights to London, is situated 100 km south of Stockholm.
Airport Buses and Taxi Van Service
Airport buses to and from Arlanda and Bromma Airports leave from the City Terminal
at the Klaraberg viaduct near the Central Station. Departures to Arlanda, every 10 or 15 minutes.

A number of different taxi companies operate in Stockholm, and their rates can vary. Note that there
are fixed rates to and from Stockholm-Arlanda.

Apart from these larger companies, whose names are shown clearly on their cars, there are also a number of so-called
free taxis with different kinds of signs. If you use these taxis, you should agree on the fare in advance.
Public Transportation
Stockholm's public transportation system is punctual and reliable. You can
travel by Tunnelbanan- the underground, commuter trains and buses. SL information for

The SL transportation card for 24 and 72 hours, respectively costs 60/120:- adult and 36/72:- child and can be purchased
at Tourist Information Offices, SL Ticket Offices and Pressbyr�n kiosks.

Telephone
Public telephones are used with prepaid phone cards which can be purchased in most kiosks, supermarkets and in the Tourist
Offices. Some Telephones also accept credit cards.
International calls; dial 009 followed by the country code. Wait for a tone, the dial the area code but exclude the
first digit if it is 0, 8 or 9. For operator assistance call 0018.
Stockholm numbers from within the area; exlude 08 which is the area code.

Tipping
If you want to show your appreciation for good service in the restaurants, leave a small tip. The Stockholmers often leave
from 10-20 kr up to 10% of the total. The service charge is included in all prices at hotels and restaurants and for taxis.

Banks
Banks are generally open Monday-Friday 9.30 to 15.00. Some banks in central Stockholm are open 9.00 to 17.30.
Post Offices
Post offices are usually open Monday-Friday 9.30-18 and Saturdays 10-13.
Offices in city: Drottninggatan 53, Stora Nygatan in the Old Town and at the Central Station (Open Mon-Fri 7-22, Sat-Sun 10-19). Poste restante pick-ups can be made at any pre-specified office.
Currency
100 �re = 1 krona (crown). Denominations of banknotes are 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1 000. Coins; 50 �re,
1, 5 and 10 kronor (crowns).

Goverment
Sweden has a unicameral parliament with 349 seats, divided among the following various political parties: Social Democrats, Conservatives, Liberals, Left Socialists, Centre Party, Christian Democrats and the Greens. Radio Broadcasts
Sweden has four national and several local radio stations . P6 Stockholm International (89,6 MHz FM) broadcasts in English, German, Russian, Estonian and Latvian. World news in English Mon-Sun at 6, 7, 9, 9.30, 11, 12, 13, 14, 22 and 22.30.
Right Of Access To Open Country
This unique Swedish public right (Allemansr�tten) lets everyone walk freely through the country, and camp for one night in forests and countryside. It also means that each individual has a serious responsibility to protect nature, and it has many limitations whose purpose is to prevent damage. The tourist information centres have booklets and further information.
Tobacco
The law prohibits the sale of tobacco products to persons under the age of 18.
Alcohol
Wine and spirits containing more than 2,8% alcohol by volume and beer containing more than 3,5% alcohol by volume are sold only in a special government-owned shops called the "Systembolaget." Minimum age for purchase is 20. Restaurants and pubs must have special licenses in order to serve alcoholic beverages, and can only do so between the hours of noon and a certain time at night.
